Today was our free day and I used this time to catch up on sleep and to explore the Prauge Dancing House designed by Frank Gehry and Vlado Milunic. This icon, contemporary building is nestled into the corner of a riverfront block. There is a lot of controversy over the aesthetics of this building, however, this building addresses and displays many cultural issues of the rich history of Prague. The Dancing House was the first building constructed after the fall of communism in the Czech Republic. The free, light movements of the structure and facade emphasized peoples new freedom from the government. Gehry described the free movements in the design as the swift, clean free movements of the famous dancers Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, coining the buildings name. As the design developed, two dancing figures began to define themselves on the predominate corner of the building, resembling Fred and Ginger. Even now, it clear to point the slender, sleek, feminine shape of Ginger falling into the strong, stout, masculine shape of Fred.

The grand finale of Prauge was the river boat cruise along the Vltava River at sunset. We were treated to a fantastic dinner on a beautiful boat. The roof of the boat retracted so we could see the sun setting over the magnificent city. This was one of the most incredible boat rides I have been on.

Prague = 10/10
